Carol Star Safer, Artist (1925-1990)

Artist's Statement 1971

"Suddenly, the dream has become reality. Today every American child is aware of the cratered surface of the Moon as her pioneer ancestors were aware of the parched earth of the Western desert. It is the artist through her work who can and must provide the emotional bridge. To me, the whole concept of seeing the Earth from afar, and the Earth rise beyond the Moon's horizon, is even more exciting. The brilliant blue, turquoise and pearlescent splendor of the Earth as seen from Apollo space capsules is something Man had never seen before, or even imagined."
